Automorph · network symmetry

Find which parts of a network play the same role, and what it means.

Automorph computes the exact symmetry of a network. An insight agent explains what it means in your field, and a chat agent answers your follow-up questions with the whole analysis in view.

How it works

Computed exactly, explained for your field

Compute

Automorph finds every symmetry of the network: which nodes and which links play the same role. The result is exact, not estimated, and shown as a coloured map.

Insight agent

Reads the result in the field you choose: proteins that can stand in for each other, institutions with the same contagion risk, nodes with identical exposure.

Chat agent

Answers follow-up questions about your network with the whole analysis in view: a specific group of nodes, a weak point, what to test next.

Example

A cell-cycle protein network

Nine proteins and 29 interactions. Automorph finds 36 symmetries that sort the nine proteins into five roles: two groups of three that play the same part (AURKA, MAD2L1, AURKB and CCNB1, PLK1, CDK1), and three proteins that are unique.

The insight agent flags the three unique proteins, BUB1, CDC25C and WEE1, as candidate drug targets, because no other protein in the network can stand in for them.
